Bigfoot hunt' goes horribly, horribly wrong
THEY claim they went off into the woods in search of the legendary beast Bigfoot. But this group of friends got a whole lot more than they bargained for ...
According to local news site KFOR-TV, one of the four friends was accidentally shot during the hunt at Catoosa, Oklahoma.
Omar Pineda, 21, told police he became scared when he heard a "barking noise", and shot his mate in the back.
But police are sceptical of the tale.
"Any story that starts out that someone is on a hunt for Sasquatch (Bigfoot), we probably have problems with you from the get go," Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said.
Sheriff Walton said if you want to go hunting for Bigfoot in the woods, you need to get a license first.
Seriously.
The injured man is in a stable condition. The three friends were all arrested.
Mr Pineda is facing charges for reckless conduct with a firearm. He and his wife Lacey were also both charged for obstructing an officer, while the third friend, James Perry, is being held for destroying evidence after allegedly throwing the gun into a lake.
Miley Cyrus feeling pain of break-up, pens 'open letter' to ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth
MILEY Cyrus has penned a heartbroken "open letter" to former fiancé Liam Hemsworth, saying she is sorry for her wild ways.
"As time has gone on and the anger subsided, Miley has really started to feel the pain of their split,” a source told The Sun.
"She thought about writing some songs, but then decided why not write a letter to Liam to tell him exactly how she feels. Miley admitted to Liam she has pushed him away and said sorry for acting so mad.”
Cyrus has been partying constantly since her breakup, moving on with a series of hook-ups, The Sun reports. Most recently, she reportedly was seen making out with rocker Benji Madden at a Halloween party.
But it seems the nonstop partying has left the Disney star-turned-wild child realising exactly what she's lost in her Australian former flame.
"Miley says in her letter she still loves Liam deeply and has asked him to meet up. It could be for closure or it could be to start again, but she just wants to see him and talk things through."
However, it seems Hemsworth has already moved on from the Cyrus circus. He was spotted kissing Mexican actor Eiza Gonzalez just a day after he and Cyrus announced their split. More recently, he joked and laughed on the red carpet as he turned out to support older brother Chris at his Thor: The Dark World premiere.
Parents apologise for school shooter Jose Reyes, 12; say he was loving son with no sign of anger
THE parents of a 12-year-old who killed a teacher and then himself at a Nevada school said their son was a loving boy who kissed his family every day.
Jose Reyes, a year seven student at Sparks Middle School in Nevada, shot two students and then killed teacher Michael Landsberry outside the school, before turning the gun on himself on October 21.
His parents, Jose and Liliana Reyes have apologised for their son's actions, but told theReno Gazette-Journal their son loved his family and there was no sign of trouble.
"My wife and I want to express our sincere condolence to Mr Landsberry's wife and family," Mr Reyes said.
The math teacher has been hailed a hero for standing in the way of gunfire and protecting the children in his class.
Several times during their first interview since the shooting, the boy’s father thanked the police and the community.
The Reyes said Jose was an affectionate son who kissed them every day and loved to make videos on his parents' phones.
He worked at the family's coffee shop, saving up to buy his parents dinner and to afford gifts for his younger sisters.
"We did not know Jose was angry or upset about conditions at school," Mr Reyes said.
"He had never complained about any particular teacher or student. We knew that he had been teased and that he was trying to work through a speech problem he had.''
Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting amid reports Jose may have been bullied.
During interviews since the shootings, several students said they believe he was bullied. Those who knew Jose said he had friends but was considered shy.
On the day of the shooting, witness and student Michelle Hernandez said she saw the gunman and heard him say: "Why you people making fun of me, why you laughing at me?"
The violence erupted nearly a year after gunman Adam Lanza horrified the US by opening fire in Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, leaving 26 dead.
The December 14 shooting reignited debate over national gun laws, how to protect schools and whether armed teachers should be part of that equation.
Services for the teacher who was killed were held over the weekend. Both students injured in the shooting have been released from the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Reyes family was going to pick up their son’s ashes on Tuesday.
Their daughters, who are 7 and 8, have moved to new schools since the shooting and miss their brother. Both read letters to their brother during his services.
