NBL clubs will get to flex their pre-season muscles against three quality US colleges with visits by Butler, St Mary's and University of New Mexico next month.
Butler University was the Cinderella story of the NCAA tournament in 2010, losing to storied Duke by a basket in the final, its coach, Brad Stevens recruited to coach the NBA's Boston Celtics next season.

Butler will run into Sydney Kings on August 8 at Newington College.

St Mary's College in California has been the destination of many Australian players including Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova.

The Gaels will play Melbourne at Kilsyth on August 15, with former St Mary's forward Lucas Walker keen to show his wares against his old college.

Cairns also boasts former Gaels' Aussie graduates in Clint Streindl and Mitchell Young, as will Sydney with Ben Allen.

University of New Mexico will visit Australia with two locals in its line-up, Cam Bairstow - one of the stars of Australia's silver medal win at the World University Games - and Tasmanian playmaker Hugh Greenwood.

The Lobos - who first came to the attention of Australian fans when Luc Longley completed his college career there before his exceptional NBA run with the Chicago Bulls - will play Sydney at Bankstown on August 6.

Several Melbourne metropolitan SEABL teams also are expected to be added to the visiting teams' schedules.

The Adelaide 36ers expect to have their full team including new imports Gary Ervin and Jarrid Frye - together for a six-game series in China next month.
