4. 3RD QUARTER, 8 MINUTES

The Dockers midfield brigade, led by David Mundy, begins to dominate and the ball starts bouncing their way. Freo breaks from a half-back stoppage and Danyle Pearce, with nothing to go to, sends a torp inside 50 that looks shocking. A fortuitous bounce over the head of Luke Hodge allows Zac Clarke to run on to the ball in the pocket. The ruckman hands over the top to Pavlich who kicks his second of the term from the goalsquare. Game on.

5. FOURTH QUARTER, 5 MINUTES

Luke Hodge starts to stamp himself on the contest and, after marking in the middle, goes short to Brad Sewell, who finds Isaac Smith on a short lead on the 50m line. In the swirling breeze, Smith backs himself and slots the long goal. It puts Hawthorn 17 points up and Smith celebrates in style. It’s a long way home for Freo now.

Redemption for Hawthorn in the Grand Final, the Hawks holding off a second-half fightback from Fremantle to win by 15 points.
6. 4TH QUARTER, 12 MINUTES

With their backs to the wall the Dockers have to motor. McPharlin marks in front of Franklin on the wing and sends Paul Duffield on a long run and he hits it deep inside 50. But instead of finding Pavlich or Chris Mayne, Hawks full-back Brian Lake takes a vital contested grab. It is his seventh intercept mark of the day. Fittingly, it start a passage of play that when when Brad Hill goals. Game over.
